WORKPLACE ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENTS

Why choose Focus Health Group?

I’m Dr Kerry King (Osteopath), and I’ve been conducting workplace ergonomic assessments for around 10 years.

What I bring to an ergonomic assessment is a clinical understanding of the person as well as the workstation. I can consider pain, previous injuries, health conditions and individual needs alongside the practical setup of the desk, chair and equipment.

My assessments are hands-on and practical. I’ll make useful adjustments on the day wherever possible, show the employee how to manage their own setup, and recommend additional equipment only when I think it will genuinely help.

Ergonomic assessments that consider the person, not just the workstation.

Focus Health Group provides individual onsite ergonomic assessments for employees experiencing discomfort, managing an injury or health condition, returning to work, or simply needing help to get comfortable at their workstation. Every assessment is tailored to the individual, their work and their environment.

Rather than simply working through a generic checklist, I take the time to understand what's happening, make practical adjustments during the assessment wherever possible, and provide clear recommendations for anything else that's needed.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING AN ASSESSMENT?

LISTEN

We start with the person.

I'll discuss the employee's work, current concerns, relevant health history and symptoms, and what they feel is or isn't working for them.

ASSESS

I'll assess the employee at their workstation, considering areas such as their chair, desk, monitors, keyboard and mouse, posture, equipment, workstation layout, lighting and work habits.

ADJUST

Where possible, I'll make practical changes during the assessment.

I'll also show the employee how to adjust their own setup so they understand what we're changing and why.

RECOMMEND

Sometimes the best solution doesn't require buying anything.

When additional equipment would be helpful, I'll provide practical recommendations based on the employee's individual needs and existing workstation in a clear report.

You don't need to wait until an employee has a signifcant problem

An individual workplace assessment may be useful when an employee is:

  • experiencing neck, back, shoulder, arm or other discomfort while working

  • returning to work following an injury

  • managing a health condition that affects their comfort or work

  • struggling to get comfortable at their current workstation

  • requesting ergonomic equipment such as a new chair or sit-stand desk

  • setting up a new workstation or home office

  • looking to improve their workstation before problems develop

Assessments are particularly useful when a standard workstation setup hasn't solved the problem and the employee needs more individual attention.
